I have seen this radio on the market for many many years and now I see why.
I have mine turned up pretty loud on purpose but you can adjust the volume for each alert however you like it. I have had mine for about a month now and luckily there has only been one weather alert issued in that time but the radio worked flawlessly and the siren was loud enough that no matter what room we were in it was heard. For example if you don't want the siren going off in the middle of the night over an Amber Alert then you can change it to blinking lights only or completely turn off Amber Alerts all together. feature it allows you to choose exactly which counties in you area you want to be alerted about and you can choose which alerts you receive and how. It keeps the family feeling safer knowing that we will always be aware of any dangers (weather or otherwise) the moment the alert is issued. If it does its job when it is supposed to, then I will be satisfied with it. But then you don't know if it is working. After a lot of searching I found out the alarm can be put on mute, so you don't have to hear it.

For the weekly test, it doesn't really explain how to turn the siren off once it starts. Then when you want it on again, you have to go through the process again. But for a retired person that only wants to get up early once a week or so, after the alarm goes off, and you don't want it to go off the next morning, you must go through the process of getting to the alarm through the menu system in order to turn it from ON to Off.
for someone that has to get up each morning at the same time, you could set it and forget it. I would prefer a button that can be pushed to activate the alarm. Instructions are not that easy to follow and not in enough detail. The radio looks nice and seems to be made of good quality materials.
